Eugene’s Poem

I’m a Beast                                                                                                                Person writing

I am a beast, my names Addiction, a beast that’s come to stay.

Give me all you have and I’ll be yours today.

I’ll take away your kindness and I need all your wealth.

Ill slowly turn your light off, with you in dark my stealth.

I’ll take away your wife, your home and all that’s good.

For taking sustains me, it is my very food.

I’ll take away your children, all that you hold dear.

They may be all around but I’ll prevent them getting near.

I’ll take away your friends, they’ll no longer call.

For in their hearts they know, they can’t prevent your fall.

I’ll take away your mind, your clarity of thought.

You won’t find an answer, no matter where its sought.

I’ll take away your comfort no matter where you sit.

You will have no peace, and that you won’t admit.

I’ll take away success for you will always lose.

Till there’s nothing in your pocket to go and buy new shoes.

I’ll take away your truth till there’s no-one you can trust.

I’ll take away your love, until there’s only lust.

I’ll take away your sleep I’ll give you things to dread.

I’ll take away your sunshine for you cant get out of bed.

I’ll take away your health, hurt you again and again.

Then I’ll fix you up for a little while, when you cant stand the pain.

I’ll take away direction, you wont know west from east.

My name it is Addiction, I assure you I’m a beast.

A beast you are indeed how you’ve terrorised my soul.

No longer will you torture me, I’m taking back control.

I have hope and inner strength, it’s growing day by day.

I’m small but I will fight to keep your claws at bay.

I’m taking back my life from your cunning and your rage.

You’re going back where you belong, back inside your cage.
